Friends of the Newark Monastery

The Friends of the Newark Monastery continue to assist with the maintenance of the Most Blessed Sacrament Friary. The property is very old and in constant need of repair. Old piping and appliances need to be upgraded. Crumbling walls need to be reinforced and weathered windows need to be replaced. Additionally, irreplaceable items such as stained-glass windows need to be preserved, and if possible, restored to their original condition.

With the help of generous donors and benefactors, we are able to continue our mission of maintaining the Most Blessed Sacrament Friary so that the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal could remain in Newark and continue their mission with the poor.

The Friends of the Newark Monastery raises money through this website and through various fundraising efforts throughout the year. The donations allow us to hire contractors and specialists (ie. stained-glass, wood restoration) for needed work around the friary.

Often, some of the friars have the skills to do the repairs themselves, and therefore, we only need to assist with the cost of supplies for the repairs.

Without the help of generous donors, the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal would not be able to continue their work with the poor in Newark. Please help us help the friars continue their work with the poor.
